Welcome to the website for the Pensions Ombudsman of Ireland

The Pensions Ombudsman investigates and rules on complaints from members and beneficiaries regarding Occupational Pension Schemes, Personal Retirement Savings Accounts (PRSAs) and Trust Retirement Annuity contracts. He aims to resolve complaints in a just and equitable manner. He is a statutory officer who exercises his functions independently of government and of the pensions industry. He reports to the Houses of the Oireachtas.

The government has announced the intended amalgamation of the Office of the Pensions Ombudsman with the Financial Services Ombudsman’s Bureau. At the time of publication, the legislation to give effect to this amalgamation is not in yet in place.
